When is it recommended to clean the filter?:
- After treating for surface problems, such as staining or scale buildup.
- After treating for metals.
- After treating for algae or slime/mold growth.
- After treating for cloudy water.
- If the date entered for the last time the filter was cleaned is greater than four weeks.
- Before closing for the winter.
How to clean your filter media easily:
Sand Filters:
- Dilute 1 pack of filter brite into a large pale of water
- Pour the solution into the skimmer and the turn off the pump after a few seconds.
- Allow the solution to sit in the media overnight with the pump off (6-8 hours)
- Backwash the filter after the time has elapsed
Cartridge Filters:
- Turn off the pump and remove filters from the filter housing
- Rinse filters off with hose (Not a pressure washer)
- Dilute 1 pack of filter brite into a large pale of water
- Soak filters in the solution overnight with the pump off (6-8 hours)
- Rinse filters after the time has elapsed
- Let filters dry and place back into the housing
- Restart pump
