When is it recommended to clean the filter?:

1. After treating for surface problems, such as staining or scale buildup.
2. After treating for metals.
3. After treating for algae or slime/mold growth.
4. After treating for cloudy water.
5. If the date entered for the last time the filter was cleaned is greater than four weeks.
6. Before closing for the winter.
   

How to clean your filter media easily:

Sand Filters:

1. Dilute 1 pack of filter brite into a large pale of water
2. Pour the solution into the skimmer and the turn off the pump after a few seconds. 
3. Allow the solution to sit in the media overnight with the pump off (6-8 hours)
4. Backwash the filter after the time has elapsed

Cartridge Filters:

1. Turn off the pump and remove filters from the filter housing 
2. Rinse filters off with hose (Not a pressure washer)
3. Dilute 1 pack of filter brite into a large pale of water
4. Soak filters in the solution overnight with the pump off (6-8 hours)
5. Rinse filters after the time has elapsed
6. Let filters dry and place back into the housing
7. Restart pump
